Rural communities north of Fresno live in what could be considered a maternity care desert, as we do not have local OBGYNs or birth centers. That is why NICBC is trying to fill this gap the only way we can — by raising awareness about maternity care services already available near you.

Searching for a midwife and/or doula?
Midwives are trained to support the health and safety of moms & babies in various settings — including home birth! Midwives are licensed medical providers.
Doulas, on the other hand, specialize in providing emotional and physical support, as well as access to evidenced based information — but are not able to offer medical advice.
